A community-centered bookstore created to celebrate diverse voices and make literature more accessible.
Black Garnet Books transformed an approximately 1,800-square-foot space in Saint Paul’s Midway neighborhood into an accessible independent bookstore. The project created a permanent home for a business dedicated to books and artwork by Black, Indigenous, and other authors and artists of color. As Owner’s Representative, ICS helped support renovation planning and project coordination while keeping the owner’s vision, accessibility needs, and community goals at the center of the process.
